A leading US based property and casualty insurance company.

The Business Challenge

The existing system was having number of issues, and we were supposed to develop an application to validate and report the errors in the system periodically.

The Existing System

A dashboard application was created for the Agents, which acts as one-stop solution for their queries. The core of the system was developed using Siebel and SiteMinder was used for authentication purpose. An ASP page was used as the starting point, and after the authentication procedure, the control was transferred completely to the Siebel Web Engine, which acts as a closed box to the starting ASP application.

The Issue

The client request will be handled by one of six available servers. These machines had different issues - such as load balancing, data errors etc. As the result, the service was not very reliable. The proposed solution to this issue was to point to each server and check the web site periodically, for data availability. This was a time consuming and cumbersome process, which required extra resource utilization.

The Solution

We created a browser automation system, which mimics exactly the user activities in a system. The application takes the current system to different domains, and performs the search as normal. All the search results are presented as a report to the business, and in case of any error, email/page alerts are sent to the concerned persons, with proper error description and the source of error.

The application is highly customizable, and it was developed partially as a generic solution. Now the client has decided to extend this application, check the reliability of other websites also. Now the application works 24/7, seamless.

Key Benefits

Since the whole process was completely automated, all errors are reported in time and this helped in reducing the downtime considerably. The need of extra resource is also eliminated, which helped in avoiding human errors, which is associated with all manual validation procedures. Also, the report preparation system is helping the business to study the trend and they are thinking about alternate methods for making the system more efficient.
